What can we do?

1) The first way you can help is to pray. It may feel passive, but prayer is truly one of the most important actions you can do right now in the face of disaster. We believe when we pray, God moves.

2) Donate blood at the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center. Hospitals and first responders are running low on their blood supply as they treat injuries from the disaster. When you give blood, you are giving the gift of life.

South Texas Blood and Tissue Center has less than one day’s supply of blood due to demand increase. To donate, call 210.731.5590 or go online at southtexasblood.org.

3) Donate items to the San Antonio Food Bank. The SA Food Bank is the official place to donate supplies and food to serve those displaced by Hurricane Harvey.

Items needed for evacuees:• nonperishable food
• water
• baby food
• diapers
• flashlights & batteries
• new or packaged clothing (no used clothes, please)
• hygiene items
• cleaning supplies

Deliver to one of the following locations:• San Antonio Food Bank Warehouse, 5200 Enrique Barrera Pkwy (previously known as Old Hwy 90), open 8am-5 pm.
• D1 Field Office, 1310 Vance Jackson, open 8 am-8 pm.
• D2 Field Office, 2805 E. Commerce, open 9 am-5 pm.
• D3 Field Office, 3319 Sidney Brooks, open 9 am-5 pm.
• D4 Field Office, 5102 Old Pearsall Rd, open 9 am-5 pm.
• D5 Field Office, Collins Garden Library/200 N. Park and Las Palmas/803 Castroville Rd., Suite 218, open 9 am-5 pm.
• D6 Field Office, 8373 Culebra Rd., Suite 202, open 8 am-8 pm.
• D7 Field Office, 4414 Centerview, Suite 160, open 9:30 am-8 pm.
• D8 Field Office, 9830 Colonnade, Suite 165, open 8:30 am-8 pm.
• D9 Field Office, 16500 San Pedro, Suite 290, open 8:30 am-5 pm.
• D10 Field Office, 1635 NE Loop 410, open 9 am-5 pm.

4) Volunteer with the San Antonio Red Cross. They are holding trainings sessions for volunteers throughout the week. This is a tangible way to give your time and get involved in the relief effort.

Call 210.224.5151 to volunteer (and receive training) for service in shelters and with evacuees.
